Killilea Family Crest
The Irish surname Killilea is an anglicized form of the Gaelic name Mac Giolla Leith meaning “son of the gray lad,” or “son of the devotee of St. Leith.” The Killilea family are originally from counties Galway and Mayo in the western province of Connaught. A notable bearer of the name was Henry J. Killilea (1863 – 1929) who was one the five men who founded baseball's American League as a major league in 1899.
