Regan Family Crest
The Irish surname Regan is an anglicized form of the Gaelic name Ó Riagain which means “descendant of Riagán.” The personal name Riagán is of uncertain origin, perhaps akin to ríodhgach which means “impulsive, or furious.” There are two families of the surname Regan, one from county Meath in the province of Leinster and and one further south in the province of Munster. Both families claim descent from Riagán a nephew of Brian Boru who was the last High King of Ireland.
