Renouf Family Crest
The Norman French surname Renouf is almost exclusively found in the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey. The name Renouf is derived from a Norman personal name, Reginwulf, composed of the Germanic elements ragin meaning ‘counsel” and wulf meaning “wolf.”The Coat of Arms of Renouf, apparently granted by Charles II as a reward for assistance given in his escape from the Parliamentary Forces in 1645, is a red field, a cross fitchee above a sandglass, between six knights' spurs in silver. The first recorded reference to the name is Robert and Jeanne (nee Hue), parents of Jean Renouf, who was christened at St. Sampson's, Guernsey, on November 26th 1668.
