Bush Family CrestThe English surname Bush is a  topographic name for someone who lived by a bushy area or thicket, from Middle English bush(e) ‘bush’ (probably from Old Norse buskr, or an unrecorded Old English busc); alternatively, it may derive from Old Norse Buski used as a personal name. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Richard de la Busce, which was dated 1181, in the "Pipe Rolls of Yorkshire.” Other early recordings from London Church Registers include: Agnes Bush, who married William Harnson on June 26th 1568, at St. Dunstan's Church, Stepney, whilst on December 16th 1629, one George Bush was christened at St. Giles' Cripplegate.
