The first written reference to the name is in 1585 in Dysart, Athlone, County Roscommon. The name is first recorded in the New World in the 17th Century where immigration records chart the arrival in Virginia of one Teague Fallon. Today there are approximately 1,000 bearers of the name Fallen in the United States.
