Kehoe Family Crest

Kehoe Family CrestThe Irish surname Kehoe, also found in Scotland, is an anglicized form of the Gaelic name Mac Eochaidh meaning “son of Eochaidh,” a personal name from the word each “horse.” The name is mainly found in the eastern province of Leinster and the townland of Keoghville in Taghmaconnell is named for them. Records of the name date to the 16th Century when Maolmuie MacKeogh was the chief professor of poetry for the province of Leinster in 1534. Myles Keogh died at the battle of the Little Bighorn, in America, in 1876. Keogh's horse was the only survivor.
