MacAfee family crest

The Scottish surname MacAfee, also found in Northern Ireland, is an anglicized form of the Gaelic name Mac Dhuibhshíthe meaning “son of Duibhshíth,” a personal name composed of the elements dubh meaning “black” and  síth meaning “peace.” The name originated in Scotland and came to Northern Ireland at the time of The Plantation of Ulster in the 17th Century. The name, or a variant, is first recorded in the United States n 1746 when immigration records show the arrival of Anna McAfee in Philadelphia.
