The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Father Dongoh O'Moloney, which was dated 1601, in "Ecclesiastical Records of Killaloe", County Clare, Fifty-five people bearing the name Maloney appear on a "List of Irish Famine Immigrants Arriving at the Port of New York", during the years 1846 - 1851. On May 21st 1856, the birth of one Bridget Maloney was registered at Nenagh, County Tipperary.
