Our Story

  • Keeping a Craft Alive for Generations

    Heraldic Jewelry · Est. 1998

There are objects that exist purely to be owned, and there are objects that exist to be passed on. We have always made the second kind.

We started in San Francisco in 1998, brought together by two obsessions: artisan jewelry and the history of European heraldry. We set out to answer one question. Why was it so difficult to own a piece of your own family story?

  • Knowledge Before Craft

The obstacle, we found, was not the craft. Skilled hands have never been rare. What was rare was knowledge: years inside the archives of Europe's great libraries, tracing lineages through centuries of record, learning to read the precise visual language of blazons and crests. Without it, you are not making heraldic jewelry. You are making something that resembles it.

So before anything else, we built the knowledge. We put down research roots in Europe, brought together a network of exceptional artisan jewelers, and began assembling our own heraldic archive, one name at a time.

260,000 Names, Histories & Coats of Arms

Built over nearly three decades, it is what stands behind every piece you commission from us.

What We Stand For

Four principles at the heart of every piece we make.

  • Authenticated Research

Every piece begins in the archive. Our European research team has spent decades building a proprietary database of over 260,000 names, histories, and coats of arms. When we say a design is historically accurate, we can show you exactly why.

  • Artisan Craftsmanship

Each piece is made to order by hand-picked jewelers. Every finished piece is stamped to confirm its purity, origin, and authenticity. No two are exactly alike, because no two families are.

  • Relentless Quality

From the first drawing to the moment a piece is wrapped for delivery, every stage answers to the same standard. There has never been a version of what we do that cuts corners. There won't be.

  • Bespoke Design

Our graphic artists build original designs around your family's specific symbols and history. What leaves our workshop is not a piece of jewelry with a crest applied to it. It is an object made to outlast the person who commissioned it.

    The Founding Vision

Heraldic Jewelry is established in San Francisco. The founders bring two things most companies in this space lack: deep knowledge of European heraldry, and a serious research capability to back it up.

    Boutique Retail Locations

Prestige retail locations open in Seattle, Honolulu, San Diego, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. Customers who want to see the work before they own it finally can.

    Embracing the Digital Age

Retail shifts. We shift with it. The move to online-only is not a contraction. It is a recognition that our customer is everywhere, and we now have the means to reach them directly. The craft and the research come with us, unchanged.

  • Today

    A Global House

Operating from the Burren in County Clare, Ireland, with research in Spain, marketing in Buenos Aires, and support in Michigan and Florida. Nearly 4,700 reviews since 1998, averaging 4.8 out of 5: the kind of record that only comes from getting it right, one family at a time.

  • A Truly Global House

    The World's Best, Working Together

Making the finest heraldic jewelry in the world has always meant drawing on the finest people the world has to offer. Every part of what we do (research, design, craft, and service) is carried out by people who are exceptional at that one thing, wherever they happen to be.

That is not an accident of geography. It is a decision we have renewed every year since 1998.

  • We Are Here For You

Every Piece Begins With a Conversation

Most online jewelers ask you to browse, select, and check out. We have never worked that way, and we don't intend to start. Something as personal as a family crest deserves a real conversation with someone who actually knows the subject. Our team is available by phone, with toll-free lines across five countries. Talk to a real person.  Call us before you commit to anything. We would rather give you twenty minutes of our time than leave you with a decision you're not certain about.
