Cuoco Custom Design Story

" Thanks again for all of the hard work the design team put in to create this beautiful piece, and to the jeweler for bringing the design to life. I know my son will treasure this for years to come and pass it on to future generations"

Overview
When Sylvia came to us she had a personal vision of what she wanted: a custom graduation ring for her son that would honor both sides of his family heritage in a single, unforgettable piece. This was more than a gift, it was a legacy in sterling silver, built to be passed down for generations.

Sylvia came to us with a clear and meaningful vision. She wanted to commemorate her son's graduation with a ring that would reflect three central pillars of his identity

Design Requirements and Vision

  1. Religion
  2. Spanish heritage
  3. Italian heritage

"A custom piece with the Castro and Cuoco crests… a jaguar on the left side of the shield, and a lion on the right side, both standing and holding the shield. Beneath the shield would come the family name 'Castro,' and on top of the shield, the Ichthus fish symbol."

Our design team took on the challenge of weaving two distinct family coats of arms, Castro (Spanish) and Cuoco (Italian) into a single, harmonious shield. Each element was chosen with intention:

Design Process

  1. The Winged Lion and Jaguar, heraldic supporters representing the strength and dignity of both family lines, holding the unified shield in proud partnership.
  2. The Ichthus Fish placed above the shield as a quiet but powerful declaration of faith. Known as the "Jesus fish," the Ichthus was used by early Christians as a secret symbol of identity, representing the acronym "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior."
  3. The Combined Shield, the heart of the design, merging the Castro and Cuoco crests into one cohesive emblem.
  4. Two proofs were presented to Sylvia, and through collaborative refinement, the overall design was simplified to create a cleaner, more wearable ring, one that retained every meaningful element while letting the silver itself breathe.

Sylvia chose a design that combined traditional elements with religious symbolism, making the ring a unique representation of his Italian and Spanish heritage.

Final Design

  • Featured the Ichthus fish above the shield.
  • Incorporated the Cuoco and Castro coats of arms into one shield.
  • 2 Supporters, The Lion of St. Mark and the Heraldic Jaguar customized the ring with a unique meaning to the bearer.

Previous Story Next Story

The approved design was brought to life as a sterling silver ring bold, symbolic, and built to last. The final piece is a quiet conversation between heritage and faith: a jaguar and lion standing guard over a unified family shield, with the Ichthus fish crowning the composition.

The result is a piece that is unmistakably symbolic and heirloom-quality designed not just for one graduation day, but for every generation that follows.

When Sylvia received the finished ring, she was overjoyed. She especially loved how the two coats of arms had been seamlessly combined into a single shield, and made a particular point of praising the craftsmanship of the finished piece. The ring exceeded her expectations.
