Sheerin Family Crest

Sheerin family crest
The Irish surname Sheerin is an anglicized form of the Gaelic name Ó Sírín meaning “descendant of Sírín,” a variant of the personal name Síorán, which is derived from the Gaelic name síor meaning “ long-lasting, or durable.” The name was almost exclusively found in county Cork in the 16th Century but had died out in that county by the 18th Century and today most bearers are found Westmeath, Roscommon, Mayo and Leitrim. The name is first recorded in 1606 when the birth of Thomas Ó Sírín is recorded in Cork.
